Wild Lime is one of a small number of operators certified and permitted to guide in both Everglades National Park and Big Cypress National Preserve, and the tour is built around a naturalist rather than a throttle. You travel out by Sprinter-style vehicle from your hotel, and the day is split between walking and water.

The walk comes first: a guided route through tropical hardwood hammock inside the national park, where the guide works through the ecosystems, the rare plants and the birdlife. It is the part most airboat-only tickets leave out entirely, and it is where the day earns its price. A moderate amount of walking is involved.

A well run and delivered activity. The pickup from the hotel was efficient, as was all communication prior to the trip. The host was informative. The boat ride was the most spectacular element of the experience. We saw an amazing amount of wildlife. Wish this element had been longer. Although the walk through the National Park was good it did focus a little too much on the plants with lots of stopping to talk which impacted on the flow, and we didn’t see as much of the park wildlife. Overall a good experience.
